The Applied Satellite Engineering (ASE) Docking Station offers a hybrid portable/fixed-site solution with a detachable 9555 satellite phone as the transceiver.

Simply dock the 9555 handset in the docking station and you have access to satellite communications from your office via a standard telephone or the corporate PBX system. When you need to return to the field just unclip your 9555 and take it with you for seamless communications indoors and outside.

Like the RST310, this unit supports intelligent dialing (you can preprogram 011 for international access or block access all together).

Unique features and benefits of the ASE docking station, which you won't find on the comparable RST310, include a speakerphone, separate headset/microphone jack for enhanced audio/voice quality and a built-in storage area for the handset antennae when it is ‘docked. The docking station is well suited as a wall mount as well if that is an installation preference.

The RST310 is a cleaner, more sophisticated looking piece of equipment making it somewhat preferable for an office, though this recommendation is not just based on looks but also the intelligent handset which is a great desk accessory on a docking station. Also the cradle and docking station of the RST310 can be in separate rooms for added security.

However, for more rustic environs the ASE machine is superior most surprisingly because of the wall-mount option. With a wall mount you know the equipment will not accidentally fall off of a desk. And the storage for the 9555 antennae is very convenient for active outdoor users.

This configuration requires the 9555 handset part for service.
