 The portable Thrane Explorer 300 satellite phone BGAN terminal utilizes the Inmarsat satellite constellation for broadband connectivity around the globe.
This satellite phone terminal is slightly smaller then the 500 but is only single user capable. As with all explorer units the Inmarsat Bgan Explorer 300 Satellite Phone for voice and Internet offers web browsing, email and offers streaming capability though at 64kbps which is great for audio but not optimal for streaming video.
This entry-range terminal is great value combining throughput with speeds up to 384kbps in a compact footprint for easy stow-and-go in the field. You have lots of options to ‘plug-in’ via standard RJ45 lan port, RJ11 phone jack and Bluetooth.
While the eXpo 300 is a great device consider the 110 which is lighter, smaller and adds a USB port. The 110 also has an optional antennae enclosure for long term remote site applications. In short the Thrane 300 is the preferred choice typically for government assignments where they are already familiar with the 500 and 700 models which all use the same software and a similar interface.
