The Marine BoatDOCK Kit is a global marine communications solution in a box. It includes an Iridium 9555 phone, privacy handset, Beam PotsDOCK, antennae and cabling.
Everything a sailor needs to call home from any latitude from pole-to-pole. The docking station is perfect Iridium voice, slow data and chat cards are available in several denominations for crew calling.
PORTS of call: Privacy, PBX, Bluetooth & USB
This marine rated docking station has an intelligent RJ11 (POTS) interface perfect for calling via standard corded, cordless or DECT telephones. The RJ11 port can also interface with a vessels PBX system presenting standard ring, busy and dial tones as if on a standard phone network.
For added convenience the captain can use the BoatDOCK privacy handset or call utilizing any Bluetooth enabled handset/headset while the USB port provides additional interface opportunities.
Crew Calling Too
The Satworx Crew Calling service separates Captain and crew calls with an easy to manage prepaid card service for the crew who can use standard phone equipment. The handsets are easy to install, even a long distance away from the main terminal or alternatively you can use an integrated PBX system for added functionality and accessibility.
GPS
The BoatDOCK contains a built-in GPS module for intelligent tracking and alert reporting which can be configured to support periodic polling and/or emergency alerts. To take advantage of this feature you will need to upgrade the included fixed mast antennae to the dual iridium/GPS antennae and sign up for a data plan to use LeoTrak which can map your location from any pc.
Iridium Satellite Phone
The BoatDOCK kit includes a handheld Iridium satellite phone which may be used independently of the docking station for calls from anywhere under the sky to anywhere and for security purposes may be stowed securely when your vessel is not in use.
Compare and Contrast
Unlike traditional, built-in solutions, the BoatDOCK kit offers more versatility with essentially the same functionality because the Iridium 9555 satellite phone transceiver is a detachable handset and may be carried off the vessel by captain/crew. The in-built GPS is also a big plus. Often the purchase of an additional GPS module is required for this functionality as in the case of the SeaCaptain RST100SC.
This solution cannot support an SASS feature, which is ONLY available on in-built devices like the Sailor SC4000 or the SeaCaptain.
Otherwise for an on-board satellite voice communications toll the BoatDOCK kit makes a very compelling calling solution at sea (and shore).
