With ITS, the Iridium Tracking System, the SAILOR SC4000 can deliver GPS positions or be tracked any time at regular intervals.

The system may be configured on ship or from shore, using the LocPoint web-based tracking solution. There is no additional hardware to purchase (The SSAS HW is not required). Simply register your SC4000 transceiver with your Satworx dealer for service.

LocPoint is an online resource tracking solution that may be used with your SSAS enabled SC4000 Iridium satellite phone. Resource tracking is a critical function of fleet management and ultimately maximizing profit, With Satworx LocPoint a ship owner/operator is constantly aware of the location and number of floating assets operating at any time. Even loved ones can watch the progress and journey home.  

The intuitive interface utilizes a navigation tree allowing the user to efficiently program functions, customize tracking to monitor the desired asset(s). Customization allows the vessels themselves and waypoints to be arranged in an unlimited amount of groups, commands can be defined from a wide range of parameters, and zones can be set up in a wide range of shapes and sizes.

Key Tracking Functions

Zone

This function allows you to set up "geofences" directly in the transceiver triggering a notification when a preset parameter or boundary is passed. This utility has been used in vessel monitoring systems (VMS) as well as, and perhaps most prominently, as a tool to enhance delivery notification. LocPoint can notify for instance freight forwarders or harbour personel via e-mail, SMS or fax.

Safety

LocPoint provides an effective safety suite by combining asset tracking with the SSAS capabilities of the Sailor SC4000. LocPoint can in this scenario act as a SSAS message relay system, so that the number of alert recipients is now unlimited, and can be carried via e-mail, SMS or fax. Through LocPoint the SSAS enabled Sailor can change/re-flag the SSAS state of a vessel, eliminating the need for on board transceiver alterations.

E-mail

With the new built-in e-mail client, every ship has an LocPoint Inbox and can communicate with shore based systems via easyMail. Incoming vessel e-mails are simply shown with an icon on the map next to the vessel, and are subsequently shown in the vessel inbox. This can be especially helpful when for instance communication ETA messages or bunker levels from the vessel. LocPoint in essence can be considered a one stop tracking gateway for vessel operations.
