Mobile broadband network coverage is available between just north and south of the respective Polar Regions. Inmarsat BGAN is the fastest data service over the largest coverage footprint.
Making calls while you surf the web is standard. The Inmarsat network capacity may be adjusted on-demand for high-bandwidth applications like streaming video with guaranteed data rates; corporate VPN (Virtual Private Network) access supporting IP and "circuit-switched" can be configured upon request.
Portable satellite phone terminal options require absolutely no technical expertise during the setup or operation. The terminal software interface is standard across all phone models for headache-free hardware upgrades or organizational transitions/transfers. In addition, BGAN terminals are exceptionally lightweight and small, despite the array of data services that they offer users.
Note that portable satellite phones, unlike handheld phones, must be stationary to receive a signal. Subscribers can travel as far as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi will allow however the terminal itself must remain stationary.
